After narrowing the original book's broad purview in two sequels, Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? (1991), about zoo animals, and Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See? (2003), about endangered animals, this third sequel continues the thematic approach with an all-American assemblage and attention paid to the continent's many regions (a mountain goat, a rattlesnake, and a blue heron are among the creatures depicted). Martin's rhythmic text cleaves to the familiar pattern and leads readers from one double-page animal portrait to another, all crisply set against white backgrounds. Unique Animals!

Our little one Loves Brown Bear so, I wanted to get her a follow up and after reading the options, choose this one.
I knew it was going to have unique animals, but I didn't realize how unique they would be. Flying squirrel?! I'm sure she will love what unique animals it details when she is a bit older, but being only 18 months, she isn't really into them. The illustrations lack the bright colors of Brown Bear. When we read Brown Bear we do the animal sounds for each page and with this one, that isn't really an option.
Still satisfied with my purchase, but probably should have chosen one of the other sister books for our preference.

Printed wrong

I like the story, but my book came with the "blue heron" page upside down. It was printed wrong so now when I get to that page I either flip it rightside up to read or just read it by memory/upside down and show the blue heron flying down.

Same as Brown Bear and Panda Bear but with different, dub animals. I love Eric Carle books and this one is no different
